Silver Pen Writing Competition
Each year, a new topic which concerns younger and older adults is selected for students to write about. The goal of The Silver Pen is to get young adults interested in the process of aging so that we can foster a culture of mutual understanding and respect for the aged in our society.The application deadline is February 27, the number of awards is 4, and the maximum awards amount is $1,500.
-The competition is open to all high school seniors who have a weighted GPA of 3.0 or above and live with 25-miles of one of the participating locations or attend one of the participating schools (listed on the website): Brightwater, Cascades Verdae, Homestead Hills, The Lakes at Litchfield, Marsh's Edge, Osprey Village, Ridgecrest, Summit Hills, The Stratford, Wellmore of Tega Cay.
-This year each community selected their own topic. To view the topics, research the community to which you plan to apply. The essay will be available at the scholarship provider's website.
